Will you please explain a little more? That statement sounds a little scary!

I agree with Jan, in posting in the type 1 forum it sounds like a death wish.

hey thisstinks..sounds like you are still having a rough go..was hoping by now things would have ironed out a bit for you...are you carb counting and matching your insulin to that? Have you had your thyroid checked? any other med changes occur?

I looked into your history, so I understand a bit better. I can understand that gaining so much weight in such a short amount of time can be horrible . . . especially since you said you felt "fine" with very high numbers for so long.

It sounds like you are still in a very bad situation. People do want to help.

hey,

you know, we have chatted before about getting this as a result of a med. the bitterness, betrayal and shock. and about how this stinks. It is stinking for me right now too. and I gained 70 lbs taking zyprexa over a year. not a couple months though. that is alot. could some of that be water weight possibly - are you no longer taking a thiazide?

I want you to let us help. I am so sad for you. You are so sad.

what is your plan instead of insulin? what is the diet and excersize regime?

are you okay? I just wonder if you are okay.

seriously.

Hi there,
It sounds like a really confusing time for you, especially if you are receiving conflicting medical information.
Perhaps you could ask for a new set of blood work to re-confirm your original diagnosis.
In the meantime, please keep taking your insuling to control your BGLs.
Stay strong, we're all here to help and support you

Your situation greatly saddens me. I hope you have it in you to go to a hospital. You will be able to get multiple opinions from multiple doctors while there.

There are people that understand your confusion here, and we want to make you feel better. Please go to a hospital!

We have ALL been there. Exactly where you are, right this second.

You must take charge of your body. Form some kind of game plan, and plan your meals, and try not to deviate from that schedule.

I gained a bit of weight after I started injecting insulin. I am not a big guy, but I did notice.

Ultimately, whether or not you gain weight, is up to you. It will just be a bit of a battle. Don't make this condition dictate to you.

There is plenty of support and information here.

Take advantage of that, and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Sometimes diabetes feels like a mass of marble with which you are only given a plastic knife to chip away at. It's frustrating, but you need to ditch the plastic knife, and get yourself some dynamite.

Hang in there...

Hey,
IF you NEED insulin, stopping WILL kill you. DKA and kidney failure is a lousy way to go.
You clearly don't trust your doctors. I don't blame you. I hardly trust mine and I've had far better luck than you. Sometimes it comes down to that, luck.
If you can't trust them that only leaves you to figure out what is going to keep you alive and well.
That you have gained that much weight so quickly suggests that you are eating too many carbs and taking too much insulin.
If that makes any sense you might try cutting way back on your carbs and see if you can't reduce the insulin without having your Blood Sugar numbers go up.
If I was in your shoes I'd go full out Atkins, totaly eliminate the carbs, at least until I saw how it affected my weight.
If you do that(even if you don't), keep track of your sugar. Testing before and two hours after you eat is a good place to start.
Watch out for lows. You may well have to cut back on your insulin to avoid hypos (they stink too ;-)
I have not gone total no carb, but I do find that limiting my carbs makes it easier to avoid highs and lows as well as hold my weight steady.
But you are not me. You are going to have to figure out what works for you.
Either that or trust your doctor to do it.

Tommy
