Question Glucowatch...?

Could someone tell me about the glucowatch?

Are you using it, how does it work?

Is it accurate?

Is it a constant monitor, or do you activate it to get a reading? Does it record readings and times?

How much does one cost, where do you find it?

Any experiences you can share?

Thanks,
Cherylanne

I saw the glucowatch at the ADA convention last summer. They are not a replacement for the finger stick test, because they are not accurate enough. I believe you have to get a prescription from your doctor to get one. It has a pad that you change daily, that is in contact with your skin, and it reads the fluids between the cells in your skin to track your bg. I believe it tests every 10 minutes, which would be great for tracking when you go up and down. They have a website: http://www.glucowatch.com/ that can tell you more.

The glucowatch needs some help still...it only monitors your blood sugars over like a 12 hour period of time....and you have to switch the watch to different parts of your arm or you will get a rash....and a mark....you cant wear it where there is hair ...you cant wear it if you are sweating ....i was thinking about getting one until i read about it....also, you still have to check your blood on your finger...i think that the people that need it the most are the ones who have hypos in the middle of the night it will show the blood sugars during the middle of the night...when they get a better glucowatch i will get it ...until then forgetitaboutit
