So this morning...

I bolused 24 rapids instead of 24 units of my basal.

I was half asleep...

I realized around 3 mins later. Both pens are the same, cept one has marker on it.

Immediately I ate some chocolate, soem cashews, and some juice, even had a bite of my emergency choclate.

I am okay now, just a bit shaky.

There wasn't anything I could do cept throw carbs at the fire.

This seems to be going around lately! I know just what you mean about not being fully awake and doing something like that. We really need some UN-Insulin . . . there was a recent thread about that!

Tested...

I thought my panick carbfest woould have me alot higher.

I am currently at 6.2mmol/l after around 5.5 hours.

I hope I don't end up chasing this. But I think it's been long enough to know if I will or not.

I think I have stabilized.

That's funny Jason, you got me to laughing!

I think next time I see my doctor, I'll ask for some un-insulin with a straight face.

There was quite a bit of fat with those carbs, to slow your absorption of them, no? Cashews, while not super-carby, do have a fair amount ... but also fat. I was told not to eat chocolate for lows because I could "die waiting for the carbs."

Well, I wasn't thinking too well, and I didn't remember that.

The oj was probably what brought me around.

Chocolate cashews perhaps next time, dipped in oj.

LOL -- that sounds good ... OF COURSE you were not thinking well.. Glad you are okay, that's the main thing.

I still like the raisins, and we always have them handy at my house, b/c of having KIDS. But ... if you do NOT have kids, probably important to keep measured emergency carb stashes of some sort ...

Quit That!
I'm going high just thinking about chocolate covered cashews with a little orange zest!

Mmmmm!

Seriously, Glad you got by the mistake OK.
I managed to shoot a couple of units of Lantus when I meant to do Novalog the other day and those pens are completely different looking.

I am so glad that I am on the pump now and I just take one kind of insulin. (humolog)

I used to take humolog and lantus. But reading stories like this always kept me clear minded when injection time rolled around.

Glad your ok.

I am going to pre-load syringes for a week or two with my basal insulin just to see how that is.

I am normally at work when I do my first basal injection.

Today I just grabbed my gear and injected in bed.

I wasn't THAT sleepy either, just not paying attention to which pen I was grabbing.

Lesson learned.

Maybe.

Stuff like that is exactly why I get Lantus in a vial and Novlog in the pens. I won't ever mix up the markedly tangible difference between the items.
