This evening after controling my bloodsugar i discovered that i had 379mg. I`m scared because it`s the first time after beeing dxd that i have this value. I really don`t have any explanation for this considering that my bloodsugar values were great till now. My doctor told me to take an extra rapide insulin and to cheek again in 2 hours, but she was also curios about why this happened.
Did anyone experienced this kind of really unexplained highs and if so what was the solution to be ok again?

| | Sometimes it happens. Maybe the insulin was no good, maybe you had a bad site for the needle. Maybe the moon was full instead of being only half!  You never know. Just always make sure to pay attention and act quickly to take care of high and low sugar.

| Arch is almost correct. It's actually the effect of phases of the moons of Saturn and their tidal pull on your blood that gives extraordinary readings like that. ROTFL
Seriously,portok, if you find out what caused it, please Post Instantly!! Then we'll all know what causes this phenomenon. It's just one of the aspects of "Joyous Diabetes" or "Diabčte Joyeux" for our friends north and also east-northeast of the U.S.
Kinda like that bumper sticker you see in Texas a lot " Stuf Happens" {or words that that effect}

| | Oh yes...Been there, Done that! It's not fun, but I agree with the others. You just sometimes have to shrug it off, and try to move on...that is, as long as you treat it and make sure it's on it's way down. I' m not really one to advise others, when it happens to me I want to know WHY. I'm kind of obsessive about figuring out what's going on, but sometimes there's no clear explanation and you just have to accept that.
I hope those numbers come down soon for you!

Actually, Razr, I found a great article about this very subject. It's not Saturn's moons at all. An indepth study was conducted by NASA and the Russian Space Administration and they discovered that it all stems from a few rogue moons that hover and wobble about Uranus!

| | I have been charting pretty intensively lately, with nice colors and lines, even pies and bars on the charts. Someone out there likes curved lines and multicolored pie charts. It is the law of large numbers in full effect that causes my problem. Add to that those things around Saturn and Uranus and 2005 is going to be a bumpy year  |

| | | It happens to me too. I think maybe the insulin isn't absorbed properly at the injection site or perhaps something causes your suger to go up but I don't really know why it happens ant that is just a guess.

| | | I have to share this... a good friend of mines daughter was dxd with type 1 about a year or two after me... well yesterday morning they found her unresponsive and on the floor... they took her to the hospital and found that her BS was near 1000 (997 or something)... she was then careflighted to Childrens Medical Center here in Dallas... and it took them all day to get her sugar down... she was still 'out of it' lastnight but closer to being stable...
cause? no one knows.. yet...

| | | Grumpee, That must be terrible. I was 788 at dx, with all the classic symptoms. Since then maybe a couple of 400's, but I have seen 200's in a short period of time if I missed bolus. Keep us posted, we'll keep you and her in our prayers. |
