there are three that i am aware of. They are Minimed/Medtronic, Aminas and Cozmore. Several of us have one type or the other of these pumps. I am sure you will get some feedback of others. These are just the ones I have been looking to for an upgrade.

Hey!
Sorry to hear that you were in the hospital, but I'm so glad to hear that you are now on the mend. I hope that you are feeling better and that there are no future trips to the hospital anytime soon.

Anyway, I have a pump- the Minimed Paradigm 511 pump. I have posted about it probably too many times in the past but it's something I love and hate at times. Actually, I don't hate it so much anymore. I did when I was having problems w/ my infusion sites/sets...it was very frustrating, but I don't have those problems so much anymore. Well, I don't want to get too off track. I can't say that my control improved all that much...actually it didn't really improve at all. Most of my A1cs after moving to the pump, have been about the same as pre-pump days. The cost can be very expensive if you don't have insurance. I believe that they range in the 6000 dollar range. It's pricey! That doesn't include the supplies and insulin itself. The expenses should definitely be a consideration. However, the positive things to consider is the fact that it might be something that really does improve your control...it's different for everyone. Also, there is so much freedom and flexibility it gives you. You can eat basically what you want and when you want which is really great . I think if you do a search on this site you should pull up a lot on the pump.

By the way, I think if you go to www.Minimed.com you can find out more about their pumps.

I hope this helps and good luck making your decision.

Take care

I absolutely love being on a pump, hard to remember what life was like before.
I upgraded from a Disetronic to a Cozmore a few weeks ago. So many new features!
What I like so far:
1. it has a blood glucose moniter attached to the back and it communicates with the pump. Once the pump is programmed for all your personal settings you can do a blood test and if you are high the pump knows exactly how much insulin you need.
2. You can program the duration of a bolus shot, I found that my sites last about a day longer than when the insulin is delivered quickly.
3. It knows how much insulin is left from your last shot and how long it will take to be used. This has been a great help as I am not trying to correct for what I think is a high 1 hour after a meal. The only lows I have had were my own fault .
I could go on.....
