New Diet

So I remember I was trying slim fast for awhile... and Im not doing that again, lol.

Being tired of the weight, Im trying something else. Im trying low carb and more frequent eating to kickstart the old metabolism. Here's whats going on. Todays food:

Breakfast: Carbmaster yogurt (4g carbs)

Snack: 2 hard boiled eggs w/ yolk removed dipped in sauce of fat free mayo, mustard, paprika, sugar free sweet relish (0 carbs)

Lunch: Lean Cuisine (33g carbs)

Snack: 2 Hard boiled eggs again (0 carbs)

Dinner: Chicken breast, asparagus (10g carbs)

Snack: Turkey and cheese wrap (no tortilla) (0carbs)

This will be combined with between 20-30 minutes exercise each day.

How does this sound to everyone? I know slim fast just came out with a low carb version, has like 6g carbs and 1g sugar. I like slim fast because its convenient, so I may try those after a little while.

Looks good. Except for the fat free mayo, sure it's not high fructose corn syrup on it? The fat free alternatives are usually filled with nasty stuff.

I would up the fat, you can eat more fat when on low carb.

How many kcals is this?

You should do this for two weeks or so without any "breaks", then go back up to normal. Then stay there for another couple of weeks before going back down again. This'll give you great fat burning results because your body will be burning a lot more when you go from eating "normal" to "very low kcal".

But again, fat and protein high, carbs 50ish.

I really want you to succeed and I also hope you don't. Now I know that doesn't make sense, but let me explain. I have been eating what you are describing minus the meat and lean cuisine. I have been eating salmon and no packaged foods. I have been doing it for three weeks and not one pound has moved. If it works for you, I am going to be happy for you and mad at my body. I have been very active.

I will be very interested to see how it goes for you.

I would eat the entire egg. Don't go fat free. Your body needs fat to metabolise food. It seems like you are going pretty low calorie. Does this satisfy you. Have you tried greek yogurt. It is very thick and low carb and I add almonds, berries and cinnamon. I would try some soups they are fairly low carb and low calorie. I eat 5 or 6 minimeals a day with 200-300 calories a snack. To keep my bg stable I try to eat every 3 hours. i keep low carb energy bars on hand if I'm away from home. Instead of a diet try a lifesyle change you can stick with the rest of your life.

as above...fat is okay if low carbing..watchout for hidden sweeteners in low fat stuff....i like this heaps better than your old slim fast plan..regardless of weight I'm banking on both you and nancy feeling better once your body has adjusted...but I bet you both increase your confidence in swimsuits...

Well day one is out. I had a weak moment involving 8 potato chips and a spoonful of peanut butter... but we wont go into that.

All in all I feel pretty d@ng good! Sugars been really cooperative today also, between 76 and 145. A little on the high end I know, but beats the heck out of what its been before today.

I'll keep everyone posted. The other thing to keep in mind is that I dont have a scale, so this is all going to be based on how I feel. I dont have a specific weight goal, I just want to feel and look better. Once I reach a point where I feel good, then I'll weigh myself again. This is a long climb down, but I think I'll do well this time around.

And thanks for all the encouragement! You guys, as always, rock my socks.

Ive replaced fat free mayo with regular mayo. I would leave the yolks in the eggs this time, but they got over boiled lol

You aren't the guy they arrested for "greeting women while he was wearing a one piece woman's bathingsuit, are you?" If that is the case, the bikini might be a bad idea! This sounds like a good diet to me and I hope it works for you. It just doesn't make sense to me to boil and egg and not eat the whole thing, either.

You guys are funny stuff.
OK, so todays menu was kinda the same as yesterdays, but instead of lean cuisine I had 2 lean pockets spread over a few hours, and I also had a package of peanuts in and amongst everything.
My main thing is eating smaller amounts more often while staying low carb and semi low calorie.

Well, I'm covered with mud from my overbearing posts the last few days, I might as well jump in here as well.

I think you could improve your diet. Get rid of the "processed items". Start the day with some whole eggs (at least 2) any way you like them. Have a few berries with them. Get into real meat and green vegetables in the place of the lean pockets and lean Cuisine. The easy way is to fry off a porkchop, beef steak, chicken breast or a piece of fish. Just open a can of greens or green beans or even better (but more trouble) cook some fresh veggies. The asparagus you mention is fine as are the rollups. If you are trying to lose weight, be sparing with the peanuts. Same thing for supper, some meat and a veggie and some berries in heavy cream (sparingly). Cheese for snacks.

You seem to fear fat. Be advised, low fat feeds hunger. Fat satisfies. Fat is your friend and main calorie source to allow a lower carb intake for improved glucose control. That's a win win, no hunger and good numbers!

the peanuts were a good choice...just watch carb amts on multiple intakes...my fav is almonds and cheese sticks..they make spicey mj ones too..

as far as eliminating processed foods...hmm...one step at a time works best for some ppl..so df if it works for you great, if not, you are heaps better with diet already..
