Stress etc

Early Thursday morning I woke up & hurt my neck (think it happened when I turned over) & I have been in a lot of pain since. Last night my back started to hurt & I don't know whether it is connected to my neck pain or if I'm getting an abscess, as the pain is where I had an abscess about 3 years ago. I'm feeling very stressed as I am extremely busy at work - been working late all week & have been into work for a full day today & have work to do at home tomorrow - & wondered if the abscess is returning could it be down to this? I'll be working long hours this until the end of January & am feeling very tired & fed up. If I am getting an abcess & it is down to stress I can't see a remedy because the busiest time at work won't finish until 31/1 & I can't see how I'm going to get through the work.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I think it would be best to see your doctor as soon as you can. Warm dry heat may help loosen up your muscles a bit and ease pain. Anti-inflammatories (naproxen, ibuprofin/motrin) may help as well. If you do indeed have another infection you need to be on antibiotics asap. Your health is very important. You can't work if you don't take proper care of yourself. Please see your doctor.

How tired are you feeling? Neck pain could indicate meningitis or mononucleosis.

{{{{{{{{Willow}}}}}}}} Heather said it all - you can't work if you don't take care of yourself - you really do need to see a doctor.

Surely your work will let you take some time off for a doc's appointment? Let us know how you are.

Thanks for your advice/support. My neck is a lot better, it still hurts a bit if I turn my head too far, but it has improved a lot. I still think I am stressed, I have had bad gum ache / headache for the past 3 hours even though I've had 2 ibuprofen & 2 paracetamol. I am in tears with it. The stress of work is really getting to me. Only a litle over 2.5 weeks to go & then my deadline will be over.
Thanks again.

Willow, stress could be causing the neck pain and the headaches. I will get both from stress. I have used Excedrin Tension Headache and it helps.

When you are not at work try and do something that you enjoy, wether it is watching a tv program, take a bath to get warm water on you neck or taking a walk. This will also help you loosen up and maybe get the kinks out of your neck.

You can also get headaches from the neck pain. All those muscles attach together and affect each other.

Hope this helps some.

Good news that the neck is much much better, nearly back to normal. But the toothache has returned about 20 mins ago & I'm in agony. Am going to see the dentist tomorrow.

Sue - it's virtually impossible to get work off in January...I'm a tax accountant & have my clients tax returns to prepare & file with the Inland Revenue before 31/1. I think my body is telling me to slow down, but I can't at the moment. I've had another long week & will be going into work again tomorrow after the dentist.

Kim - we were planning on watching ER just now (bought hubby series 1 for Xmas) but I think being on here helps me better cope with the pain.

Thanks everyone.
