For the last 36 hours I have taken in two 2-liter bottles of Sun-Kist. I've been eating like a champ to keep my sugars from bottoming out. I'm on a pump and wondering if maybe i just got a really really good site? This is so weird and really sucks. It's never fun forcing food and liquids down when your FULL!

Any advice?

Maybe you should set a temp basal until you notice your numbers flattening out again.

I've had this happen before when I think I landed an infusion site near a blood vessel or something. There was usually a lot of blood after I removed my infusion site. I figured that the insulin must be getting into my blood stream more directly than usual and that it was acting stronger as it wasn't being dispersed into the body from a fatty area.

I'd just use a lower basal rate. Consider that you might also be getting sick or something, and your sugars are falling as a result.

I always thought that sugars got alot higher when you get sick?

I switched out my site around 2:00 and still getting low. I never primed the injection site, so it took an hour to fill (with my basal), to which, I expected a high BS. I initiated a temp basal yesterday at -20% and been taking less than 1/2 the amount for normal boloses. Still getting low. Any suggestions? I guess I have been healed? Maybe I need to find a new forum for cured diabetics

Do sugars really get low before you get sick? I was always told they get higher. I have been getting a little cough today, which is weird because I just got over the flu. I really appreciate any help.

So, what kind of change are we talking in terms of units?

I find they always go high. Most diabetics I've seen talking about sickness say they go high. Physical stress is generally thought to cause insulin resistance. I'm not sure where the going low bit came about. Maybe for some, it can - everything seems individual with this condition.
