Question What do you do when you're late?

So it has happened to me several times, mostly 30 min or an hour or so and once it was about 3 hrs! that I was late for my shot and meal...

I'm on the MDI regimen.. do 3 regular shots and a basal...
Regular shots have 6 hours in between and the snack is 3:30 hours after the main meal..

What do you do when you're late for 30min or an hour?
If my shot is at 7:30 and if I do it at 8:00 I go with my snack like in between (11:15 where it should be at 11:30) then do my next shot like nothing has ever happened (13:30)

Following this point of discussion I've always been curious of types of carbs and when do they act. (I'm not talking about GI here, it's the digestion) Doctors say that "measure your blood sugar 2hrs after you started to eat to understand what is the "peak rise" of whatever you ate.

However I think that this would NOT show it! Maybe it will show the raise because of the fast acting carb (the fruit category) in action.
NOT THE BREAD or SPAGHETTI I ate...

That bread category gets in action like after 4 hours I ate it... so?

Calculations I do when I got late depends on some type of figures of these issues...I'm curious of what you do....

One doctor told me NOT to make my shot if I'm late more than an hour and eat the "half" of my "portions" and go normal with the rest. The question of couse was "Well my bs will rise then?"
"Of course it will" was the answer...

Snakeye,

I'm on a slightly different MDI regimen. Basically, I dose (with fast acting Humalog) whenever I eat...plus the basal.

This winds up being anywhere from 4 to 6 or so shots a day.

I sometimes does immediately before (if I feel that I can size up the meal correctly), though most of the time I bolus immediately following the meal. Amount depends on what/how much eaten.

If I am late, my bg goes up fairly quickly. I haven't noticed a big difference with fruit vs. pasta. If I'm not late with the Humalog, my readings after 2 hourse are pretty close to normal because it is so fast acting.

im not on multiple injections...im on the pump ...i find it so much easier...when your late taking a bolus...all you gotta do is check your sugar and just take a correction...if you need or just cover what you ate...its probably the same as what you would do if you were late i would assume...i check my blood every two hours usually and i and usually normal two hours later after i take my insulin if im late
