Odd Number Pattern

Hi all
I've noticed a pattern the last three days that is odd. I'm a LADA and at lunch I have a I:C ratio of 1:12 and dinner is 1:17. The last three days using that ratio I was high 2 hours after lunch which is unusual (165, 207 and 164). The 207 was a final effort to see if I could tolerate fruit, yogurt and granola which I definitely can't, but the 165 and 164 made no sense. Then for dinner on those days I ended up low! (55, 59 and 58). Again unusual for me. I've heard of crashing after highs but I wasn't low before dinner (76,81 and 80) I just went down after eating. Any ideas?

It would help to know what exactly you ate for breakfast, lunch & dinner that day.

Three different days with the same pattern of high after lunch and low after dinner. Breakfast my usual: cappuchino, eggs with chillis, onions and tomatos, one slice toast-total 28 carbs. Lunch: two days of cheese and crackers, 21 carbs, one of those days I had an extra capp for 6 more carbs milk. The third day lunch was the aforementioned fruit, yogurt and granola which I know doesn't work for me (34 carbs) Dinner on those days was two days of pita, cucumbers, tomatos, olives, and tahini sauce for 36 carbs and one day of lentil salad for 40 carbs.

And how much insulin did you dose and when did you take it? Matching carbs with insulin is only part of the equation. The other part is timing it to digestion which is different in each one of us.

Zoe, you eat pretty similar to me. Anyway, my main thought is that your shift in resistance through the day, might be getting a bit more marked. (Why? Not sure. Apart from basic statements like sleep habits and activity affecting them, the best I can say is they just "happen".)

So if the trend is keeping up, I'd adjust my I:Cs accordingly. Lower it a little for lunch, put it up more for dinner.

With such a change in resistance, I'd have through you could get basal problems through the day on a fixed, long acting (although if your body is still producing quite a bit, it may not be such an issue). Have you detected background trends? Perhaps it is contributing to instability.

To answer the insulin question, those 3 days I took 3 units for breakfast each day, 2 for lunch two of the days and 3 the day I tried the yogurt, granola and fruit. Dinner all three days was 2 units. I usually dose 10-15 min before meals unless I'm low. I think I did that all three days except perhaps one of the days I was 76 before dinner so I might have dosed and ate.

As far as I understand, Subby, I have little or no resistance. I'm at a good weight and I only take 16-18TDD. But I will look to change my I:C's if it continues. Actually as of yesterday the trend seems to be fading. I was in target for lunch yesterday (just) and fine after dinner though I only went up 5 points. (98).

What do you mean when you say background trends, Subby? You mean highs or lows that are not related to food intake? As of my last tests for c-peptide I was at .38 and .70 (different labs/maybe fluctuation?) but maybe I'm having a spurt currently. I've actually lowered my basal by a point.

I'm thinking this is a LADA fluctuation?
