Humalog weird color

I was going to inject my humalog and noticed there were some weird reddish things floating around. I agitated it and it kind of became more homogeneous but was not totally transparent.

Has this happened to anyone else? What could it be?

Is it expired?

Is it a cartridge?

If so, I wonder if it might be a bit of the rubber stopper that may have broken down for some reason.

It's not expired.

It's one of those you put on the pen, not sure if it's called cartridge.

Agree with owlyn -- it sounds like you accidentally got a drop of blood in there -- I don't know if that makes it bad to take or not

If the insulin looks at all 'weird' just don't use it. Get a fresh vial/cartridge.

sounds like blood to me too... but also, could be anything that was on the tip of the needle tip that goes inside the cartridge... when you tear off the paper and then twist the pen tip onto it, perhaps there was something on the tip...

as for what to do now... dump it... it's contaminated with some unknown product or biological...
