Not to worry everyone, when I was diagnosed a couple decades ago, some very prominent doctors told me "10 more years"... any second now... wait for it... hello?... anyone?... Maybe I'll hang onto those old lancets for little while longer

The last I heard this was still in animal trials. I'm happy to see the progress. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Not good enough. It's still only a treatment, not a cure. If this kind of stuff takes off I think it would be great, but from what I've read about these coatings the main problem is how long the coatings last. So it's not a one time cure, but it would be a 1000x decrease in the number of injections, even the cells are implanted on a quarterly basis.

The only other thing that worries me is what happens when the cell coating is dissolved. Is it full on immune system response and rejection? Or just mild "absorption" of the foreign cells? Questions I'd like to see answered before I'd try it.

If they could make this availiable to everyone, for lets say quarterly injections, I'd be happy to take that.

Still, your diabetes would be there, but it would be virtually gone. No more checking your BG every hour, being able to go to sleep whenever you want, without having to worry about the BG.

Taking the kids to the beach without having to worry about the BG, or if you'll get a hypo and not being able to take care of yourself (and the kids).

If all it took, was one shot every three months to keep your BG stable and "normal", it would really give diabetics more freedom I think.

But, would poeple be able to eat healthy and all that? Or would they eat all the unhealthy foods they couldn't before?

OK it might be just a treatment but what makes this great is the fact that you don't have to juggle the BG roller coaster every day and far better regulation. Natural regulation!!! the best BG management ever!!
