| | | Would you believe? Well, as Tom Hanks replies to the corporal while he's afraid of being part of the mission saving private ryan: "You should look at the bright side of things corporal"
We all know: This is an expensive sh*t. What does it take?=
Doctors
Insulin
Pens
Needles
Test Equipment
Test Strips
Diabetic Foods
Diabetic Foods Side Supplies (sweetners of various types)
Educational Stuff (books, mags etc.)
If youd think deeper you would find out more of it, some even you wouldn't think of..(like HA1C test machine producers?)
Think of the sectors involved in it, roughly.
Pharamedics
Electronics
Chemistry
Biology
on soooo onnn...
Say someone has found a cure for it?
Would you believe that it would come out?
Can you believe that all these dedicated people wouldn't do anything to stop it while their reason of existance will literally fade away?
We all know whats going on in the world these days do we?
I think we've got to wake up and beware of "some things" going on as human beings because "major" things are going wrong...
This only could be a minor one...a bit of sand on the beach..BUT makes a lot of money.
I wish this would only be just my point of view. |

| | | You may be right Tony. We keep hearing how close they are to a cure, but every time they come up with something, they come back and say "never mind, that won't work". Like when they came up with the beta cell transplant in Canada. A 20 minute procedure with nothing more than a syringe to inject the cells with. Now they say there are drugs with side effects involved, and it is not financially feasable. |

| | | OK, don't get me wrong. I know the drug companies are make lots of money off of this disease, but the government, private foundations and the like are pouring hundreds of millions upon millions into research for a cure.
I'm not saying that the drug companies are motivated in the same way, but organizations like JDRF are paving the way for this effort.
It's easy to get cynical with something this frustrating, especially when doctors and drug companies ARE benefiting from growth in their business through this thing running wild. I just don't see the research effort standing idle, that's all.
Call me an optimist if you want. I'm not giving up hope, ****it!!! |

| | | I am not saying you should give up hope. I hope every day that I will read about some new discovery that will cure this thing. I am just saying, that in a capitalist world, people do not do things because it is nice or will help people. It is all about money. Whether you are talking about diabetes, cancer, aids, cars that don't need gas, or saving the trees, it all comes down to who will make money and who will lose money. I do support JDRF however. They are an organization that I believe really is searching for a cure. The doctors and scientists that they send money too are mostly diabetics or parents of diabetics, and have very good reasons to find a cure. I know that no amount of money would stop me from curing my kid if I thought I could do it. |

| | | no doubt, jon...and if the drug companies were so motivated to try to solve this, i'm sure it would come faster too. |

| | I've never been a cynic! If I was I wouldn't be here! lol
How do you know where the money is really going? I'm living in a country where you !even know! that the municipality is diggin the streets with a stupid reason just to bribe for tenders.
I don't think much is different when it comes to money anywhere in the world.
Maybe the "ways" could be |

| | | No matter what culture or society you live in the local robber barons have to be paid off. They may be the offical and/or not official, but they still have to be paid off. Has something to do with the way things work, and you can call it taxes or extorsion. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
