| I'd put that question to my doctor if I were you, duck.
Personally, I've never flipped over trace amounts. When I was a pre-teen and my control was very tenuous, I'd see trace ketones at times, and my Pediatric Endo never made a huge deal of it. He advised that I monitor it every couple of hours to make sure they weren't going up, and drink plenty of fluids. The few times I hit above trace and was vomiting, my endo had me go to the ER for a saline IV.
Just to err on the side of caution, make sure that you're using the ketostix properly and not beyond their expiry (three months from opening). And offer this concern to your doctor the next time you see him/her.
