blood work

the last time i saw the dr she said she wanted to run blood work to check on my a1c,and cholesterol(i take zocor). After looking at my chart she says your last blood work(in nov.) was a little off, she said my sodium levels were too high. I asked what that meant , all she said was maybe nothing , or maybe i was'nt controlling my sugars good enough. Every a1c I've had has never been over 5.8, my last 2 were 5.3. Has anyone else had a high sodium result? if so what were you told about it? It was funny that the dr. failed to tell me this for 6 mths. If my blood work if off at all I'd like to know about it.

My sodium has always been on the low side of normal, a few times technically low, and that was with or without good control (all the way back to high-school in the early 1990's). My most recent blood work again showed sodium and chloride in the low-normal range, and my A1c was 6.2, so...

I had a high sodium result one time and I was then told I needed to cut back on my sodium/salt intake. I also at the time had swollen ankles. My DR really loves to see me suffer. So he said salt free, fat free, sugar free diet. I said huuuuhhhhhhh are you kidding me???? Why not just put me on a liquid diet.

Let's just say I lowered my sodium intake for about 1 meal and that was it. Now my blood work has not shown a high in awhile. I am always low or right at the low average mark.

You should decrease sodium intake. High sodium can lead to high blood pressure which is dangerous for heart, arteries.
