What is it exactly?

Can some elaborate a bit more on the term "feeding your insulin"? I have read quite a bit on here that this is the sole purpose behind the weight gain in diabetics.

If I understand things correctly,

it means that the older insulins caused people to have to eat amounts of food to cover the basal insulins whether or not they were hungry or needed to eat. So, you were, in effect, "Feeding your insulin" rather than feeding your body.

With the newer insulins and MDI coupled with the better knowledge about diabetes, one doesn't have to "Feed their insulin."

I know that I set my own routine ( which is really no routine) but my father-in-law was trained in the old school and still considers what I do as "cheating"

Also, if you're having lot's of lows then you're also "feeding the insulin" by treating them.
