Hi Deberoo: Ya I know what you mean about the heat, we're almosted
melted.
Well, that's disappointing. Didn't your Doc send a letter of necessity to the Ministry? It was a no-go? You're still on disability right? Darn Govmnt
is slow sometimes passing things through. Well, I sure have heard lots of negatives about N, you're not alone for sure. I continue to wish you luck
and everything's crossed for you. Take Care.

P.S. I'm in a ****-shoot also. My Pharmacist called on the week-end to
tell me that my Lente and Ultralente Insulin is being discontinued.(It never fails, whatever works good for me, they have to get rid of it. Yes, I
realize they don't make no money off of it). I told her, I knew that in Jan. or Feb., by reading the Lilly site. I think someone on here mentioned it. So I have 6 mths. to stock up. She mentioned NPH(NO) or Lantus(not thrilled
about the pain of it and for some doesn't work too good). I think it's around
$50. We only pay $2.00 though. Ho Hum...another interference.
Sorry for babblin'. The best to ya.

Actually lantus is about $80 a vial. Why isn't it covered in Ontario? Maybe I missed it but is it because you have no private insurance? My insurance company covers it (it's what I take ) but I've never asked the province (NS) to cover it. As far as pain goes it's not painful to me..I actuallty really like it.

Hi Liz:
When my Pharmacist called to tell me about the Lente she said that
the Lantus was about $50 and then the price of NPH. I didn't care about either price since I was peed off that I was losing my Insulin. Plus my drugs are covered by my Hubbies work so price didn't matter to me. Since you
mentioned that Lantus was about $80, I was surprised so I called 3
different Pharmacies(mine included) to find out what it costs here in our
Province. Results of Pharmacy: 1. -- $61.70 , 2. -- $64.65, 3. -- $77.62. I am not saying any of these are the highest or lowest. I can call 3 other Pharmacies and get 3 other different prices.
Deberoo's Lantus wouldn't be covered yet because she is on Disability. They have a big book with all the drugs that the Govmnt pays for. Lantus
isn't on the list yet because you know how slow the Govmnt works. I would
hope it would be covered within 6 mths. Meanwhile her Doc is trying to make a special case for her because she really needs it and is sending a form of compassion to the Ministry. That is my understanding. She can correct me if I am mistaken.
I'm very glad that Lantus is working out well for you...that gives me some hope. I've just seen the opposite for some people from this Forum and other
sites. I just hope it works for me.

Hey! this is nova scotia so I'm not surprised that I'm paying higher than you guys. It sucks that you provincial plan won't cover it. Hopefullyit will soon but yes I know how slow our gov't works. I'm always amazed at the things the gov't will pay for ie: more studies on things we always have the answers to, and then they don't pay for the things we need the most. I hope things get rolling for you soon. I have heard that there is a "honeymoon" period with lantus and then sometimes it changes...I'm hoping this doesn't happen to me but I'm still always worried that it will happen. I don't want to change insulins...I'm just getting a good rythem going. Hopefully it will work for you.
