Coffee

I know for some people coffee can increase their bs. But what about caffeine-free coffee? Can this also affect your bs?

depends on what you put in your coffee.

Sometimes coffee effects me, sometimes it doesn't.

When I'm going through a stretch where coffee bothers me, I switch to hot tea in the morning.

Have not noticed any difference with or without Bailey's. Never drink the caffine free stuff, why bother?

Thanks everyone. I only add a drop of milk to my coffee. No sweetner.

I would imagine the only way coffee could increase the blood sugar is due to the stimulant effect, your body may release hormones thus increasing the "natural" glycogon from you liver in your body. But I've not had any problems.

Be wary though of latte coffees, these are sometimes premixed and you may think you are only gettign milk/water/coffee but sometimes these are full of sugar as well.
I had one once thinking just a bit of milk but BS soared, so be careful!

I do have a starbucks latte now & then & thankfully they list the carbohydrates / fat content on their website.

Thanks for your message.

I have coffee each workday in the morning with half & half, which doesn't have carbs. It doesn't appear to affect my BG, as I'm often low in mid-morning about 4 hours after breakfast.

Can't live without coffee, it’s my morning ritual. Didn’t notice that has bad effects on my bs. Drink two coffes per day; one in the morning just right after my breakfast and one in the afternoon 1 hour after my lunch (around 1600h). I put little milk and sweetner (1 small spoon). I think it helps me, because I have a low blood pressure.

I don't have coffee very often, I switched to espresso. I drink it straight.

Doesn't seem to affect me that much.

Coffee kicks my butt. I was 74 the other morning and drank coffee with cream no sweetener. I didn't eat because I was going to breakfast with friends. One hour later I was 216! Forgot to bolus for the darn coffee.

Christie, most powdered creamers have corn syrup solids in their ingredients. Pretty much the equivalent of sugar according to my nutrition folks at the time.
