I think everyone wakes up dehydrated simply cause we don't drink water at night.
Also, the morning ketones are probably due to fasting at night. If you are concerned, eat a little later.

Hi
Is it possible dehydratation causes a low level of ketone in bloodstream?
My blood glucose is normal before my breakfast.90 mg/dl my ketone is positive before my breakfast.
1 hour and 2hours after my breakfast+insulin my ketone level is still at same level... I feel dehydrated.... but im still in normal blood glucose range: 73.8...
It's a pretty mysterious cause.... I dont have any clue.
I may try to suppose the origin of my ketone level is only in my dehydratation state and it's not linked at all with my diabetes type 1 because my blood glucoses are in normal range..
If it's the case, if my diabetes type 1 don't cause my dehydration, what is the cause big question...
I had hypo during night..so I need to determine if I need to reduce my basal insulin..but im not sure if I should reduce basal insulin with the strange mystery I exposed.
If you have any idea to solve mystery or give me some clues... Let me know

Is it possible my dehydratation only will cause some ketones?? Because my blood glucoses was totally normal.. and I ate a breakfast with insulin.
Thank you
I think most of us, if we bothered to test for ketones, would find trace amounts after a night of sleep. Trace amounts is nothing to be alarmed about. I also think a very low carb diet would also lead to ketosis, which generates some trace amounts of ketones. As long as you do not have abnormal levels, you shouldn't worry. The readings on the pack of ketone test strips will give you the acceptable levels. If you are still concerned you should discuss with your doctor.
yes morning fasting blood glucose is pretty normal.. but what I find more strange.. I still have ketone in my blood 1hour or even 2hours afert my breakfast with insulin. I use precision xtra to check ketone in my blood.
It's important to remember that ketones do NOT mean you are in DKA. Ketones are the by-product of metabolising fat. If your blood sugar levels are normal, then you are probably simply metabolising a bit of fat rather than suffering from too-low insulin levels.
