| | | Ratio carbs insulin Hello,
I just wanted to ask you all if you have the same ratio carbs/insulin during the whole day. Or if you have special insulin sensitivity in the morning or at night, that reduces your ratio?
I think in the morning and lunch time i have 1,5units / 10 carbs and at dinner 1,2/ 10 carbs.
You?
Thank again for all your advices. |

| | | Yeah, my ratios drop significantly in the evening (not dinner time, but any after dinner snacks or correction boluses before bed)
It's like at night my body almost decides it's NOT diabetic. Or at least it's going to be superhumanly sensitive to insulin.

| | | All my meal ratios differ, at least on a 'normal' day... 1u:5g for breakfast, 1u:12g for lunch, 1u:10g for dinner/evening meals & snacks. I seem to be most sensitive around lunchtime, but not for very long.

| | | I get to use 1:10 for every part of the day. Makes doing the math easy.. I mean it made doing the math easy, now the pump does it for me.

| | | Like Erin, I drop in the evening as well. I am generally 1:30 although in the evening I'll calculate and cut back by .5-1 unit of insulin |

| | | My diabetes team has never advised me to change carb to insulin ratios throughout the day, so I trust them.
I currently take 1:8. That is, 1u per 8g. It's fun being a teen, decreased insulin sensitivity for a few years until puberty subsides.

| | | I personally don't even bother with ratios. Mine change from day to day, as well during the day, so there's no real point me sticking to a prescribed ration. Then there's the fact that I digest carbs at differing rates depening on what I'm eating, how much exercise I've done that day, my stress levels, what I've eaten earlier that day.....
...ratios are good to a certain extent in that they assist you in helping to work out how much you need to take. However they're really only a guideline because they only take into account one variable. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
