A pattern in my bg's

I've just spotted a pattern in my bg's.

Whenever I have unusually low bg's in the morning I have unusually high ones in the evening. I'm suposing this is because on some days the Lantus is used up more quickly producing lower bg's until it is exhausted then higher bg's when it runs out. I might switch to 2 injections a day to even this effect out.

I think its your liver. These are little mysteries of our wonderful Diabetes. Im thinking, if its possible, a delayed reaction form your Low blood sugar in the AM or it could be a simple liver spill during the PM.

It could be that your Lantus just isn't working for the full 24 hours in your body like it says it should, and maybe it even has a little peak action in the morning. It's different for everyone, even though it's supposed to be peakless. When do you take your 1 shot just now, at nighttime?
I used to do 1 shot at 11pmish and by 8-9pm onwards the next day my levels would consistently creep up, and then I switched to 2 shots to get more even coverage.

It is very likely that on some days your liver is not releasing sugar as early as normal.

I had considered the liver dump thing butu for the delay in dumping to be several hours and after several meals...

I do inject at 11pm so the high the folowing evening is likely to be down to the Lantus running out early which suggests the low in the morning being caused by the Lantus being taken up more quickly.

Yeah, it sounds like you may get more benefit from splitting your dose, even though the original Lantus literature says that is unnecessary. Other members here do that with success.
