I notice that when i stick out my hand i get shaky severly at about 60. My second test if I pass is to try to shake my hands as if i HAD shakey hands which is weird but if my hands shake violently i know im prolly gettin around 65-80, havent failed me once and ive been in the 60s prolly about 10 times since being diagnosed (mostly because of workouts and lifting and such).... I also usually feel pretty hungry... or just plain feeling off, its kinda hard to explain. I can definatly feel it though, its there.

| | | WELCOME psilocybin,
Glad you found us...
This is one great place to enjoy, learn, and share. It is EXTREMELY overwhelming at the beginning of being diagnosed, but one step at a time.
I am not quite familiar if you mean you were diagnosed at 47 ml or mmol/l.
Testing will help you out a lot. What types of insulin are you on right now?

| | | Here's some symptoms from emedicine:
* Common symptoms of low blood sugar include the following:
o Trembling
o Clamminess
o Palpitations
o Anxiety
o Sweating
o Hunger
* Because the brain is deprived of glucose, a second set of symptoms follows:
o Difficulty in thinking
o Confusion
o Headache
o Seizures
o Coma
o Ultimately, death
When I get real low, I get "floaters" in my eyes. I also have a hard time thinking. I've also noted that if I go low fast, I recognize it faster. If I go low real slow, I'm like that proverbial frog in the pot of water that is boiled real slow...I miss the symptoms and literally act like an idiot.

Are you having any symptoms of kidney problems now? If not, why are you on a blood thinner? They might as well put you on some prostate pills as well, and CHF drugs, and cholesterol drugs.
Okay, I'll stop. My problem is I am very much anti-drug, if you can deal with it without medications, do it. It just seems to me that docs are ready to prescribe a million pills to either try and fix problems you currently have or to prevent problems that have not yet arisen...do they have a crystal ball I am not aware of? |

Don't be afraid of it, and I know it's expensive, but figure this: What's more expensive, a test strip or losing a foot? Or a kidney? |

| | | When your levels have been too high for a while, as yours undobtedly have, you can feel hypo as your blood sugars drop, even though you actually are not. This is just your brain recognising that your BG is dropping.
Once you get under control & you're lower all the time, this will go away.
A good idea tot est if unsure, as you don't want to fail to recognise the real thing!

| | | I would encourage you speak to our doctor before changing. They do not act the same, as far as the amount of time it takes to hit your blood. R takes 30 min. and Humalog takes 15. Novolog takes a bit less (faster).

| | Welcome psilocybin,
Everyone has listed the "textbook" high / low symptoms, but you'll find, with experience you'll be able to notice very subtle and sometimes individual to you symptoms. Sometimes I notice a very slight change in my vision, like everything has sharper edges, which is kind of cool, and that lets me know I'm low or getting there. There are TONS of different symptoms, eventually you'll know them all, until then, TEST! I'd also recommend avoiding the psilocybin at least until you're quite aware of your low blood sugar symptoms... just as a precaution, but I'll not preach.
I'm no doctor, but if I was yours I'd not put you on R and N, I find Lantus to be a much easier ride, but talk to your doc, maybe s/he has her / his reasons. I also agree with duck, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! Why prescribe extra medications that you don't need? Unless you've had borderline kidney test results or something?
