Allergic to Insulin??????

Is this possible?
My boyfriend has come out in a mad red itchy rash all over his body and it's only been since he started his jabs.
Has anyone heard of an allergy to insulin before?

Hmmm. Lantus gave me some welts at first, but they were quite small and I haven't noticed them recently. I hope it isn't an allergy.

What type of insulin is he on? I know Novolog has been known to cause rashed and alergic reactions on certain people.

He's on Lantus, isn't he?

Lantus has a far higher rate of side-effects than other insulins - including itchy rashes.

If it persists, he might want to try Levemir.

He's probably not allergic to ALL insulin, but certain people have been known to develop allergies to certain types of insulin.

You need to figure out which type that he's on he's allergic to, and switch to another type that does the same thing. If he's on Novolog and that is causing the reaction he can swap that for Humalog, if it is Lantus that is the culprit he can switch to Levemir.
