| | | Time Change and Insulin I have been on lantus a little over four years now, and have noticed a pattern when we fall back an hour for fall or spring forward an hour for spring regarding day light savings time. Every spring I have to drop my lantus dose, and every fall I have to increase it by a difference of up to 10u. It's a gradual change but starts as soon as the time change does. Anyone else have similar changes? |

| | | I've noticed a change in my TDD, not just my Lantus, similar to what you report in the last year. But, I've haven't been on insulin long enought to see it as a seasonal pattern. The change in my requirements seem to come at an earlier time - when the lenght of the day is rapidly changing. |

| | | Another case of seasonal metabolic adjustment. I'm totally convinced that your body's metabolism changes depending on the climate, and as such, your insulin requirements will change.
Don't worry, you're not alone. I think several people this week on this forum have posted similar experiences. |

| | | I find my insulin requirements drop when we spring foward. I assume it is the increased activity due to the warm weather. |

| | | Yup. On my list of "things to do today"...lower my basal rates. Several lows yesterday and woke up with a 53 this morning. Time to change the rates.

| | | You know..this is amzaing. Mine is increasing..obviously..because i've gone back an hour..and everyone else is decreasing because they have gone forward. Maybe its the bodies preparation for winter/summer? |

| | | When on MDI I would adjust my time by 15 mins forward or back starting the week or a few days before time change...then had no problem once I figured that out.
ON the pump....I just change the time.
