| | | Please help me with my senior project! Hi everyone. I just joined the diabetes forum today and I am really excited about it. I had no idea how much support was out here on the internet. I am a type I diabetic...diagnosed at age 12 and went on the insulin pump a year and half ago. My passion is helping other diabetics...I'm finishing up my senior year at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in California as a Nutrition major. I am going to be Registered Dietitian and hopefully CDE so I can work with diabetics. In order to graduate I have to finish my senior project. Ive decided to compare HbA1C levels of type I diabetics on the pump to those not on the pump. I would really appreciate anyone who would be willing to fill out my survey. I will also post my results at the end of the month.

| | | Type 1.5's are ok because I am putting them in the same category as type 1's for this survey. However, I do not need any type 2's for my senior project. You wont mess up my stats and I would love you to fill out the survey either way. |

1. Do you use an insulin pump or multiple daily injections? Paradigm 712 pump.
If you use and insulin pump, how long have you been using it? Since Nov. 17th, 2004
Which do you prefer? Multiple daily injections or pump? Certainly, the pump. But, I just started symlin, and so I have to inject that anyway. Pump gives better control than MDI.
2.What was your most recent HbA1C level? 7.2 (YAY!)
Was that a typical level for you? no. My readings tend to be in the 8's and above. This was the first 7's that I have had in years.
3.Do you exercise regulary? If so, what do you do? Yes. I lift weights, treadmill, biking, walking, etc...
4.What is your insulin regime? Insulin:Carb ratio is 1:6, and I have a basal rate for the day of about 34 units in a day.
My email address is lauraelggren@gmail.com. I'd be very interested to see the results because this is a topic often debated. Thanks for letting us be a part of it!

Jedi! You mow the lawn every four days?? Wow! You sure are lucky. Mowing the lawn is one of my favourite vacation activities, but there is no grass around here to mow. I love the smell of freshly cut grass.
