| | | What do you honestly shoot for? What BG range do you honestly shoot for on a typical busy day?
My career has me very busy, and hypos would really mess that up.
Honestly, I shoot for 100-150 at any time in the day, even after meals. Normally I am pretty close, although sometimes after lunch it will rise to like 170 before it comes back down.
There are times I hit the 80's, and times I go close to 200, but overall 100-150 is the range I shoot for consistently.

| | | I shoot for 100 all the time but won't do any correction unless I'm outside of the 85-120 range. 2 hours after meals I shoot for any number it gives me, but within 3-4 hours I'm usually back to normal.

| | | Jedi,
You would correct for a 125 or 130 then? I am curious because I normally wouldnt. As much running as I do - even 1 unit of Novalog correction for a 130 would have me in a hypo relatively fast.

| | | Sine I'm on the pump, yes, I'd correct for a 130. I'm trying to get my A1C down. And even that little 20 will help and that is about 0.5 units of insulin for me and my pump handles that easily.

| | | That is good to know. I am not on the pump (yet,) but look forward to when I am.
It truly sounds like the pump can give you ultimate control.

- Aftiel | I can't even believe the control I'm getting from the pump. My blood sugars were 100ish all night! Have a little dawn phenomenon, but am still adjusting my pump and will have to modify my basals for that. My bgs were in the 75 - 110 range yesterday afternoon. I'm thrilled. Don't wait one day more than you have to to get on the pump. It's simply amazing! |

| | | Right now I'm going for 110 as a target. Over 130-140, if > 3 hrs post meal, I'll correct. Under 80, I'll correct.

| | | Sorta like Aftiel I'm on a pump (6 weeks). I don't correct for anything less than about 150 or 160. These bad highs usually happen after breakfast and lunch, and can be as high as 180-200 if things are stressful (diet is constant for these meals). I was on Symlin prior to going on a pump for this exact condition. I'm a little spooked about stacking bolus' but have occasionally done so when I've got less than 2 units on baord. My last A1c was 6.3 - so unless I go up I probably will not bolus for my highs of 120-160.
Regards
Joe

| | | Mine used to be set at 80-120 but I was having so many lows. Last month my CDE had me change it to 100-140 (she wanted 160, I compromised at 140). She hopes this will help me to (1) avoid lows and (2) regain my hypo awareness.
I get upset now if I see 168 2 hours after a meal but I don't do anything, and in another hour or so it's almost always back under 140. She also made me change the IOB time back to 4 hours, since I had set it to 3. After 3 hours, if I'm too high I might still do a small correction.

below 120/6.6 post meal
even though I'm MDI, I do make it 95+ % of the time.

| | | I shoot for 90 while sleeping, fasting and 4 hours after eating or after a correction (90 is the target on my pump). I shoot for 120 2 hours after eating. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
