The good the bad and the ugly!

Wow, I think this is the only forum I've found on this board with SO FEW POSTS...

So, let's get a dialog started please? I am NOT Pregnant, but have just been given the all clear to try... with an A1c of 6.2. I'm super excited. But in my reading so far, I am seeing that different docs recommend different things. I was told that 6.2 is where complications from Diabetes "all but disappear" in terms of A1c at time of conception, assuming good control is kept over the length of the pregnancy.

So, Please, tell me your experiences, Docs orders, good things, bad things, ugly things... tell me what I'm in for, share your stories.... I am officially T2 and trying for a baby and am hungry for input!

Thanks.

I do not have any docs orders, etc..I am TTC also! I am nervous but also excited. I just hope it happens soon!!

My A1C is 7.1. My Doctor has not discouraged me from trying or anything, so we are working on it!

Lets hope we have more experiences to share when we get our Positives!!

Holly, good luck to you too!

I am seeing an endo and a ob/gyn that specializes in diabetic pregnancies. Since I am also hypothyroid, they work very very closely together and are very adamant that I be in the low 6s. I've only been off BC for 2 weeks... so we'll see how it goes!

My pregnancy was unplanned but I have been told to stay in the low 6's where possible. During the "sicky" weeks this was impossible. My numbers were everywhere. Since that has stopped though, I have had no trouble with keeping my numbers between 5 and 7. The twins are growing well and seem very healthy.
I wish you both good pregnancies and beautiful babies.

Heather.

My first appointment at the high risk fetal medicine clinic is the first week of June. Not sure what they will tell me. 24 years of D and already had eye problems. My A1C is still above an ideal range, but I am working very hard at getting it down.

I am in my sister's wedding at the end of August, and I'd really like to have a due date in May or June of next year. (I'm a teacher and that way I don't have to worry about working/daycare for the summer.) Among my hubby and I's groups of friends, wedding season is over, and baby season has begun. (1st baby will be born in July.) We'd like our kids to be close in age to that of our friends' kids. I know you can't plan everything, but it's time to start the process so I made the appointment and hopefully all goes well. I've been bit by the baby bug and am excited to get started.

Hello in here! The smallest post section! I too am a Type 2 and have been TTC for 15 months now with no avail. My sugars have been under fantastic control and my A1c is fantastic, but my cycles are ALL over the place! Endo gave me the all clear to keep trying and we are seeing a Fertility Specialist next week.

I was on Metformin first and then I fell pregnant with DS(18mnths) and my sugars were everywhere, so they stuck me straight on insulin and I did well. He was born healthy 7lb 6oz.

My sugar did very the first few weeks, but they were under good control most of the time. I saw my midwife and doctor every 2 weeks and was closely monitored.

Hopefully things happen soon, have you been trying long?
