Pedicures?

Are pedicures ok to get being a diabetic? I know I have been advised not to use loofahs, etc. But, was wondering if it was safe to get a pedicure. I Love them so much...

I have not met with my endo yet, and I do not really like my regular doctor AT ALL, so asking a doc at this point is not really doable...

TIA

I get pedicures, I just make sure that it is cleaned before I use it and I love the messaging chair.

An online type 2 acquaintance at another site (hobby related) says her doctor told her to get regular pedicures! I've never had one, but as long as your feet are in good shape and not easily injured, I'd think it would be okay. Maybe just limit things like razoring skin or cutting cuticles. I don't really know, though. Some help I am, hmm?

Yeah, I have read pedicures and good foot and hand nail hygiene is imperative for a diabetic.

The loofah advice I think is almost unfounded, but I can see where they are coming from: If you heal poorly, scrubbing your skin may be a bad idea. I say if you heal fine and suffer from no known blood circulation issues, loofah treatments should be fine...

I go to a Podiatrist who Specializes in working with Diabetics and that is something that everyone in the office suggests simply because the danger to your feet when done by yourself is too great. Of course, they want you to have it done there, by a professionally trained person.
