Hi Stacey, Time will tell as to how the meds will affect you. Usually when we see any type of infection, we see high blood sugars.
Good luck and feel better!

awww Ear infections SUCK!! I hope it gets better and SOON Stace!!!

I've been real lucky in that when I've been sick, my BGL's don't usually go up! YaY I have heard tho, that antibiotics "can" make your BGL rise. This could very well be another 'by person' thing tho! I hope they don't do you that way!! *hugz*

Hey Sweetcheeks: Hope you're feeling better soon.
As for antibiotics, I found this info:

Chloramphenicol, tetracycline and the sulphonamide group of antibiotics can cause sulphonylurea medication to have a stronger effect. If you are going onto antibiotics make sure your doctor knows you are on sulphonylureas and also monitor your blood glucose levels more often.

Not sure if you're on sulphonylureas as well as metformin or not.

Sure hope you get to feeling better real soon. It's so hard when your dr. isn't in, and someone else is covering, and the copay issue I totally understand. Hope things get back to normal soon.

I recently had an upper repsiratory inflection. For the first day I was on antibiotics, my blood sugar shot way up over 200. I was on a Z-pak. You take two the first day, and one for the next four days. The first day my readings were really high. The next four days they were better, but a little high. Was it the antibiotics? I really don't know, but my blood sugar didn't go up when I got sick; it went up when I took the medicine.
