Question Is there need for concern...???

Last evening we had an urgent appointment and was running late so at dinner I forgot to take my amaryl (2mg) and didnt' notice it until this morning at breakfast when I was about to take my morning tablet.

Is this going to cause much harm on my value's or should I contact my Dr. or what? Don't mean to sound panicky (spelling) but is there really any reason for concern?

For info purpose's: I take 12 units Humalog at breakfast and 8 unit's at diinnertime plus 2mg Amaryl at breakfast and 2mg at dinner.

All info appreciated and hopefully very quickly.

most medications say, if you forget a dose, try to take it as close as possible, but if its time for the next dose, just take the alloted amount at that time, do not double up on your meds

I think you'll be ok, seriously, I guess I would feel a little pannicked too, but do you have correction doses for your insulin if you bg's go a tad higher, if so I'd do that so you don't have to worry about sticking with your goals, and just take your med's like when your supposed to like sweetcheeks said don't double dose em.......

First off...thnx for the quick reply's.

As for the correction dose for my insulin...no, I don't have that and I think that don't really apply for the type insulin I use. But I checked my value's right before lunch and it wasn't too bad. It was at 10 when normally it's at 8.5-9.0 and instead of two piece's of bread I ate one and a half for lunch. The next time I normally check is at 4:15 p.m and I'm normally at around 3.2-4.5, so I'll check it as normal then and see what's happening.

Again, thnx for the reply's and the concern.

Take care all

Ok, I am glad I helped in some sort of way, 10 is not horrible especially since you didn't take your med's last night. and if you stated Humalog technically this is short acting insulin and technically it is used for correcting high's too.....but it may not apply in your situation, but humalog is used to correct high along with bolusing for meals.......Like I said you probably will run a little higher, but I think you won't be no where near bad awfull dangerous bg's take care and remember that pill next time

yeah...just finished dinner and made **** sure I took that pill...

BTW...checked my value's at 4:15p.m. like I normally do and I was at 3.7 which is where I normally am at that time of day. So...I think it's gonna be ok. I hope.

Thnx again for your reply and

Take care

Yep, you outta be just fine Reb 'Sides, if for one day, you're running higher, it surely won't kill ya ... just start over and continue on ... it should all correct it's self. I've done that before MANY times in the past tho (forgotten a pill or pills ... usually at night!) Now, that I'm on insulin, I usually just take my metformin with my evening 70/30 mix shot ... easier for me to remember that way I guess?
