| a couple questions i went to see my doctor yesterday. it was time to check on my weekly numbers see if my meds were right. now i am a bit confused and a bit worried, and wondering if anyone might know the answer to a couple questions. ok a bit of back ground to make the questions make sence. i am type 2, on metformin 500 2x a day, humalog 4 units at each meal, humalog N varies in units.
1) i started on the insulin 6 months ago, since i have started on it my a1c has has been rising, and my numbers are higher all except the morning from a 6.2 to a 6.9 yesterday. i am wondering if thats normal?
2) they have me stopping my metformin because my protine is at 928.4 mmol in my urine < i have kidney troubles not related to diabeties> i am wondering if anyone knows what that number means and why it would stop the metformin?
3) they have me increasing my humalog N 1 unit each night until i wake up at in the 5 or 6's. but i went from 4 and i am now up to 12 and i still wake up always at 8.2 to 8.9. anyone have an idea of why that wouldnt be dropping with the added insulin?
and last question <for now..lol>
4) they still want me taking 4 units at meal times but now if my number is above 8 before meals they want me to add a unit of insulin for each number above 8 then the 4 i am needing to average my meals. i am worried about going low if i do this. i am wondering if other type 2's do this and why and what to watch for if i go low?
sorry for all the questions i hope someone can answer for me i am getting so confused with all this, and am starting to wonder if i wasnt better off with out taking the meds when it seems to be making it all worse. 6 months ago my highest number after a meal was 9 now i am lucky if i am below 15, i hate seeing the numbers like this. thanks for your time |
