Talking Thanks

I have been reading threads and posting once in awhile for about 3 weeks. I have had a lot of help controling my bs in reading your comments. The information is great. My numbers run from 57 to 222 right now. Most of them are in the right place 80 to 120. I need the support that I get here. My Dr. will not put me on a pump (that's what I want) He says I don't have enough control to do it. My insulin was changed Monday to 60 Lantus 2 daily, Humalog 20 B 20 L 25 S and Humalin N 20 pm. I don't mind going low. I do get dizzy and can't see sometimes but on the whole I really don't like the highs I used to get. I am taking many different meds. I hope you all are having a great day. I too go on line and this is the first site I go to. Again thanks.

Lynne, glad to hear that things are working better for you, esp. with fewer highs. Keep up the good work! Keep reading and posting, you'll learn a lot and may encourage others struggling with the same issues. I'll bet with your strong resolve and determination, you're going to continue getting better and better control...and will get the pump too! I know from reading several of the posts, many feel it's better to get used to everything instead of going straight to the pump, so it's probably all for the best and working out as it should.

Hang in there!

Goodmorning all, I woke to a 57 bs this morning and was just starting to feel it. My bs goes up on its own after I get up so I still took my Lantus and Humalog. Around 56 or 57 is the lowest range I can take without feeling really bad. Once I was 35 and that was a challenge. I hope all of you have a great day and wonderful weekend. I know I will be online both days.

Hi Lynne and welcome aboard.

It sounds like you are doing the right things to get on track, and hopefully the doctor will listen to you regarding your needs. I'm not sure why some doctors think better control is needed to be on pump therapy, as in many cases, it's the control issues (lack of control) that brings people to need or want to pump in the first place. Hopefully, your doctor will see that you are trying, and if you're still unable to achieve the goals you've set, the pump may be another route to go.

Once again, welcome aboard, and we look forward to hearing more from you.
