| steroid induced T2 diabetes I mentioned a few months back that my brother-in-law is battling lymphoma. He underwent a round of chemo and unfortunately had a recurrence. He's back in the hospital for 5 days of intensive chemo and if this works, will undergo stem cell transplant.
He's been on high doses of steroids along with the chemotherapy and has had increasing blood sugars. He is now on sliding scale insulin. I'm curious if any of your or your acquaintances have developed diabetes after steroids like this and will it go away when steroids are discontinued? His doctor assures him it will, but one of my co-workers took about 9 months of steroids for a lung disease and had to be on insulin..after the steroids were finished, she was able to come off insulin, but is now on Byetta and it's been over a year.
Any comments?
