What a relief!!! A1c

I had an A1c about 3 weeks ago which was 6.9 (up from 5.4) and I was highly disturbed about this. I tested like crazy for a week and still could not figure out why it went up. It did not make sense to me. So, I went back earlier this week for a retest (the 6.9 was a finger stick which I figured made a difference - the second test was blood taken from my arm) and the results are in.....5.2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I started crying I was so happy. I didn't realize how much stress I was holding from that 6.9 test. Yippeeeee!!!!

I find it interesting that there was such a difference... I'd expect a bit a a variance maybe 2 or 3 tenths, but yours was a large difference. I've never had a finger A1c and your story doesn't make want one.

I agree....I wouldn't think there would be that much variance...my doctor apparently didn't think there would be either since I had to push and insist that she give me an order for lab work. I just -knew- that the 6.9 was not accurate based on my daily readings. I'm just so relieved!!!!

Good thing you requested a new test. Great work Dawn. I am waiting for my AC1 result right now. My lab sends them e-mail. I hope I do as well as you.

Good job, I am glad the other results were wrong, would make me cry if I had a low a1c of 5.4 and then 6.9.....I am glad you wrote this, I will never let a dr give me a finger test if they ever request it to me...

Thanks for sharing....

Cheryl
