Sorry to hear you are sick especially during the holidays. To answer your question, yes your BS can act goofy when you are sick, for me it usually stays high and find it really hard to correct. The medicine you take also can play a big role in your BS also. Now, I never take any OTC medicine like Sudafed, I just take a crapload of Vitamin C, wash your hands frequently, and drink alot of water. Hope you feel better soon!

I am the so many percentage of diabetics that go low also instead of high when I am sick.....but then it gets wacky also....So for me I cannot set a temp basal rate, if I start to get elevated also, cause then I will drop. I had the flu once, One of my docs said take two extra units of Lantus, when I was on mdi, so I did and had 40's and 50's all flipping day long, but if I took my reg dose I was 150's, one unit I was 60's 70's....I just choose to stay elevated LOL......a tad bit, I had some chest infection last or two weeks ago....I was running in the 140's to 160's but then plummiting below 50 in the middle of the night, I tried a temp basal rate, and it was small and got low again errrrrrrrrrrr........So I just leave well enough alone.....

I am exactly the same, I tend to be lower when I am sick. I had a head cold and was taking some over the counter severe cold medicine from rite aid. Kept going low and had to cut back on insulin for a few days.

I guess our bodies just handle things differently.
