I'm on Janumet now.
It improved my readings by about 20 points over plain Metformin.
Sometimes I get the muscle twitches.
My weight has pretty much stayed the same .

As far as I'm concerned it's great.

I've been on Janumet for about a month now. Working pretty well. Lowered my BS by about 20 points. I'm taking Lantus, 32 units at night and Janumet twice a day. The Janumet DOES make you feel full and therefore you eat less and either loose weight or just don't gain weight. I've lost 9 lbs this month. I really almost never feel hungry on it. Like others said though, watch for slow healing and be careful if you have a tendancy for skin cancer. The DPP-IV inhibitors can have a negative impact on the immune system.

BTW, I'll be in Nashville the first week in June for the CMA fest and my honeymoon. My first time to TN. Heard it's very nice. I can't wait!

Actos is one of those things that cause fluid retention. IE stop taking it and you will lose weight or excess fluids.

janumet

Hello- new to the boards

I just prescribed janumet a montha go after having a few fasting BG tests that were high. I have known my BG were on the high side but the drs never seemed concered. After a recent physical, the Nurse practicioner recommended Janumet. I have not experienced side effects but since I wasn't monitoring my BG before I don't know if it has made a difference. I was told the weight loss could occur since the drug empties the stomach slower which makes you feel less hungry several hours after eating. I cannot tell you if that has really been the case( I am not overweight). i do know I have been watching what I eat a bit more carefully since the physical. I go back for another A1C in october...I guess we will see.

My husban was diagnosed with Type 2 in May of this year. He has been on Glyburide and Metformin since then. He recently went to a new doctor and because his hemaglobin was high, she switched him to Janumet. In the last two days, his BG's have been over 200. He'd been having good BG's on the Metformin and Glyburide.

Hi Alicia & Susan, welcome to the forum. As you know getting adjusted to a med switch can take time. Did you journal food eaten the night before the high bs? That could play a part as well.

I have started having Janumet and I have good control of diabetic now. This medicine is very newly introduced in our part of the world. Is anybody have any experience with Janumet?
