D'oh, forgot my meds this morning!

I was in a rush out of the house this morning and had to put a lot of things in the car before I left, anyhow in the rush I completely forgot to take my Metformin - D'oh I normally leave my meds beside my car keys at night so that I don't do something like this, but forgot (okay maybe the wine I had played a role in it).

Didn't actually remember until I got to work.

So what I'm thinking is, when I get home around 6.30pm, I'll take my morning dose and then when I go to bed around midnight I'll take my normal night dose.

Does that make sense or am I taking two 500mg tablets too close together?

Dave, I think i'd just skip the morning dose and just take your evening dose as usual....taking them both so close together might cause you to have lower #s than you want...or might bring on some gastric discomfort. I've missed a dose before and just went back on schedule with the next dose.

I know some who take their entire daily dose in the evenings, but your system isn't used to that. I don't think it will hurt if you miss the one dose.

That being said, watch your lunch carbs, since you won't have the coverage of the morning meds.

Thanks Birthday girl!

I was really careful with the lunch time carbs, kept them to just under 10g so that should help.

Hadn't thought of the gastric discomfort, could do without that!

Think I'll do as you suggest.

Dave......

I usually take my morning Metformin right before I leave the house for work (7:15am) and eat my breakfast (usually toast) at my desk between 8 & 8:30am.

I also keep some Metformin at work for those "ooops, I forgot" days! LOL

Well as expected, the world did not end by missing one tablet, decided to just skip the morning pill and picked up with the night time one. Numbers were fine all day.

I now have some Metformin in my car for the "oops days".

Thanks for the advice.

Hi -- Dave !!

forgot my meds this morning!

Done the same thing last Friday morning, in a company's position, sent one of our drivers to collect them at home, the thought of missing a dose, bothered me at the time, told later by a colleague missing one dose won't hurt, always take them at the first opportunity once you remembered.

How are you these days Dave? everything under control, good!! all the best and good health.

I did that so many times! Until I got myself a dosette.

There were also times when I was under the impression I had forgotten to take my meds. I wasn't sure! I counted the pills and then I was pretty sure I didn't take them. Until I realized I HAD taken them... But it was too late, I had another dose in me already.

When I forget to take my meds in the morning I will not take them after 1 pm. Too close to supper time (6 pm).

Now, besides the dosette, I also have a few pills with my meter and just in case I do forget the meter too (I have a pea brain!), I have a few pills in my purse too. I NEVER go out without my purse. Sometimes I call my husband to ask him to look at my dosette and tell me if I have indeed taken my meds. A brain... I need a new brain...
