Restless Night

Does anyone find that if they have a poor night sleeping their blood sugar is higher in the morning than usual?

Our DPs are weird and wonderful things. I've read in vaious places that HG is related to sleep -- Suppression of sleep-induced growth hormone secretion by anticholinergic agent abolishes dawn phenomenon -- Davidson et al. 37 (2): 166 -- Diabetes -- and it seems that the less you sleep during the wee hours the less DP you'll experience. I've gotton up very early and pulled an all-nighter, and there are too many nights I don't sleep much at all. I've never found any of this affected my BGs. But if I have one of those really long, sound sleeps, I always seem to be high.

I dunno. It's a crazy disease.

I'not sure if the lack of sleep causes me to go high, or that I go high because I don't sleep - just not sure!

I never sleep well when high. Very restless, and I have stranger than normal dreams.

For me,

restless night = high .. probably caused by stress or fear
Oversleep = high ... probably caused by Dawn Syndrome

The bottom line IMO is that everyone is little different, but once you know your body, you can do something to correct things ...

Most of Blood Glucose is mathematical ... but when the liver produces glucose ... with stress and illness ... it's hard to predict .

Any kind of stress can make my levels increase and I think a restless night would qualify.
