First ever morning reading

This might be a silly question to all you experienced people out there but I guess I need to ask afew sily questions while I am learning
I went to bed last night with a 5.2 meter reading and I was pleased. Woke up an hour ago and I tested 7.2.
Is this good, bad, or what? I have just eaten breakfast and will test again in 2 hours. What should I expect? What does the 7.2 indicate?
I appreciate your help guys

I often wake with a high reading and have been told this is quite normal and that I can help adjust that by maybe taking my medicaton right before I go to bed and immendiately upon rising. I have had limited success

Lulika,
The 7.2 translates to 129 in US numbers - a very good fasting bg for type 1. I think it is quite good for type 2 as well. Congrats on getting the testing going in any case. Was it easier this time?
Odd to have you talk about morning tests when I'm headed for bed!

Hi Morrisma, yes it was much easier this time thanks!
I did the whole thing in afew seconds so I am getting to be pro! I read about dawn phenomenon too so trying to educate myself. I will see what my reading is after two hours.
Yes it is funny that I am getting up as you go to bed...

My meter is in the other measure so I don't really know whether your numbers are good or not. I would think that a morning reading of 129 was a tad high though. There are others here who are much more informed than me though. CONGRATULATIONS on getting your meter!!!

convert Imperial to U.S. by multiplying by 18 and vice versa.

ex. 7.2 X 18 = 129.6(129)

129 ÷ 18 = 7.166666∞(7.2)

Not a bad fasting number. Congrats on getting the meter.

Lulika,

you are in a good pattern! well done!

The rule i use is 4-6 (preferred) on waking but 4-8 is OK.

Two hours after meals i like to be in the 4-7.8 range - but 4-10 is OK provided i do not get that 10 more than once a week or so (or less).

Last night after dinner i was 6.1. before bed, 5.2. on waking today 4.7. had a chicken drumstick for breakfast. before lunch i was 6.2 and 2 hours after lunch i was 7.2.

for lunch i had another chicken drumstick and a PIECE OF BREAD (!!!) with butter, cheese, mustard and bologna. it was low carb burgen bread with only 8 grams of CHO per slice. really delicious whole grain and seeds.
