| | | First time at endo tomorrow! And I'm nervous. Yes, my BG levels are definitely down, yes I've lost weight, yes I'm exercising. But I'm also nervous. I know this doctor is all business and not the least bit touchy-feely, and I'm afraid of all he's going to tell me that I'm doing wrong. Bleah.
I hope everything goes well. <<<bites nails>>>

| | | You'll have to let us know how things go. No matter what, don't let him/her make you feel you've not done well...you're making lots of positive changes and seeing good results. You should be proud of all you've accomplished...and so should the endo.

| | | Hope you have better luck with yours than I did with mine.
The O-N-E I went to O-N-C-E was such a complete *$#%&$# that I've just stayed with my PCP and CDE.
Here's raising a glass to yours being a "Good'un".

| | | My first few endos were all very personable...they are now retired or older...the latest batch have been the least personable....maybe the problem is with med school?
I'd give anything to get back to Dallas to my favorite endo...but I've moved too many times...and back to Miami...but he retired on me...
I hate it when that happens! |

| | | Not to hijack the thread or anything, but my first appointment with my endo is tomorrow too. I saw him in the hospital when I was first diagnosed, but this will be my first office visit with him.
Do you more experienced people have any advice? |

| | | Endo update! I saw my endo today. One word: THOROUGH! Cow! But I'm glad. We went through a ton of stuff today. I was there 2 hours, and doing stuff most of the time! The doc probably talked to me for 45 minutes. I was really impressed. They did bloodwork, urinalysis, EKG, chest X-rays; he checked my flexibility, reflexes, feet, eyes, ears, throat. Woof!
I've got a follow-up in 2 weeks to go over all my labs, but the office said I could call tomorrow and get my BG and A1C levels, so that's good. He did seem impressed that I had my meter and all there with me, and had been testing so often.
He said my EKG and chest X-ray showed a little enlargement of my heart, but it wasn't bad and the goal is to make sure it doesn't get any worse! My kidney and liver functions are both good. No fatty liver, thank the Lord!
My "bad" cholesterol was elevated, but that was from the bloodwork in February, so hopefully, things have changed and improved since that time -- including my triglycerides. Not surprisingly, they were up, too, but not as high as I was afraid they might be, and hopefully, this recent bloodwork will show improvement there, as well. I don't want to have to take a statin unless, and until, I have to.
My total weight loss is 46 pounds! Woo-hoo! He did seem pleased with that.
He talked about putting me on Actos, but I think the expression on my face told him that wasn't going to fly, so we're trying Byetta. He upped my Met to 2000 mg a day, and also upped my Enalapril from 10 mg to 40 mg a day. Yay. He wants my BP a LOT lower. I thought it was doing fairly well, but he wants it as close to 110/60 as possible. Don't know if I'll hit that target, but we'll see.
Overall, I'll say it was a positive visit, even if he did say my cinnamon was worthless. LOL. I don't care. It's not going to hurt me.
I'll update on my A1C tomorrow! I surely do hope it's down to a good level.

I hope you discussed with your new endo the need to exercise and what he recommends as well as what you are doing now. Your heart will thank you!
Congratulations. |
