Unhappy New and Testing results?

I have been testing in the mornings and my numbers have been always above 100. Around 120 t0 140. Anyone else have these readings. I am on Metforman 2000 mg a day.I take 0ne (500mg) in the morning, one at lunch and two at bedtime. before lunch and Dinner my readings are around 97 to 100. But before bedtime my readings are running higher. 130-150.
Does anyone know why they are higher at night time?
You'd think that taking two at bedtime my readings should not be over 100 in the mornings????
Thanks and God Bless!
Bettebe

Hi bettebe. I'm new too and on Metformin for about 2 weeks now. Your numbers look very similar to mine. My lowest in 2 weeks has been 115. I can't seem to hit the lower than 140 two hours after dinner either.

Just increased the Met to 1000 mg/night tonight. Maybe we are being a little impatient with the Met? I read it takes a few weeks to bring down the numbers.

Give that Met at least three weeks. It probably took six weeks for me to see a real drop in my BG levels. Those levels will improve, I promise!

Thanks for the encouragement and sharing your experience on Met Scrabblechick.

I tested my 2 hour BG after dinner tonight. It was a 134 mg/dL. I took the two 500 mg Metformin XR (first time taking 1000 mg). Hopefully this trend will continue. I ate 1/2 ribeye, and some stir fry cauliflower, asparagus, green beans, and mushrooms. Even had a Dannon's sugar free lite yogurt. An hour before eating though I cut the grass for about an hour. Worked up a decent sweat and heart rate.

Bettebe, what are your numbers two hours after dinner?

Bettebe,

Welcome to the forums, as Scrabblechick has said it takes a while for you to really see the effects of Metformin. How long have you been taking them? Are you watching your carbs, personally I avoid things like rice, cereal, pasta, white bread and potatoes as they are high in carbs. Do you test after eating, generally it's a good idea to test two hours after your first bite of food so that you can see how the food you have eaten affects you.
