| | Finally broke 120! So I'm about 2 months in from my initial diagnosis. My first A1C was about 12 and my BG was about 400 when I got diagnosed. I did some serious work on my diet (but not so much on the exercise yet). I brought my numbers down into the mid 100's pretty quickly but seemed to hit a floor at 120. For the last several weeks, I couldn't seem to get my numbers any lower than that.
But this morning, I finally broke through. I got a 114 just now. I still have some more to do but I'm happy I'm making some progress again.

| | Good job there Derf! I know the frustration of not being able to drop below 120. I was there for a good while, and increasing my Lantus didn't help. My doctor changed my Byetta from the 5mcg pen to the 10mcg pen, and voila, the numbers are much better.
I got my first really good reading last night before bed. It was a 99. Today, my first reading of the day (my fasting BG) was 103. I understand exactly how you feel since I've finally managed to break the 120 barrier also. Keep up the good work, and do like everyone says....exercise. I'm going for a walk now, even though it hurts my back. I need to do something to burn calories. I have too much energy to just sit here. Once you start exercising, you'll see those numbers go even lower.
Good Luck!

| | | Woo-hoo, Derf! Congratulations on breaking that 120 barrier! That's a good feeling, I know.
Good for you, too Hammer, on that 103 FBG! Way to go!
Test after coming in from a walk and see what your BG is. It will amaze you!
You guys keep up the good work. You're doing great!

| | | Nice work. Watch how low they go once you start exercising. I had to lower my dosage in half when I started. I am looking forward to cracking the 7 (A1C) barrier in a month when I go back in for my test.

| | Well, I went and messed up at lunch. Had a little more than I should have. Ran a 168 post meal. I usually do better than that but I just couldn't resist a couple of things.
Oh well. I've got a good plan for dinner so I should be fine by tomorrow.

| | | Well done Derf & Hammer.
Derf don't beat yourself up over the 168, you know you can get the numbers down, you have done it before. You really do get a real sense of achievement when you get below 120, I remember when I managed it.
Keep up the good work,

| | | Well congrats there people! I broke a 100 for the first time today 6 hours after eating a light lunch and coming home from a stressful day at work. I have only gotten lower than 120 a few times myself in the past few weeks and today a 98 and a 104 (two different meters 30 seconds apart).
Maybe that 1000 mg / Met I'm taking is starting to "kick-in" a little after over 2 weeks.
Congrats again on a milestone. Looks like we are in the same boat with this for now. Learning and going.
