Ah, the good old days.... I wonder what that would do to my BG numbers today...

Now you did it, I WANT ONE. Yeah that could have been a meal for me before. Now, I'd go thirds over a few days.

I still make things like that only I scoop out the soft bread middle and toss or give to someone who thinks I'm crazy for tossing the best part of the bread.

By the time you got one of these subs home though, the bread was too soaked with steak juice to remove.

Funny how things change, but back then, I'd always get a whole sub. If I went there now, I'd get a half of a sub, and cut it in half when I got home. I'd have a quarter now and a quarter later.

Back to the topic of drinking alcohol....I find that now that I'm watching my BG and watching what I eat, I have a lower tolerance for alcohol. There were times when I'd make a mixed drink (Seagram's Seven and diet Sprite) and have that with dinner. If I tried that now, I'd get really tipsy, and I'd feel sick. I rarely have any alcohol now.

Maybe you should have ate 1/2 a ham sandwich with cheese or something before you went to bed. Just a little bit of carbs and some bread to "soak" up the alcohol per say.

At least you had a nice time though and got to enjoy yourself. So nice to be "normal" for a while.

I haven't done this myself yet since I've been on the Met. I feel like a priest alone in this house though. I may venture out for the first time tonight and have a couple. I'll make sure to eat something when I get home.

Enjoy your evening but I suggest you have the wholegrain bread before you start drinking. The old rule 'never drink on an empty stomach' is one of the good rules to drink to.

I want to have a Happy Hour with Lulika

Thank you all for your replies...today is Saturday and I am still not 100% ok!!

Yes it was fun to let my hair down and I did really only intend to have one glass, it was all the happy hour stuff that did it!
I really do not plan on giving way like this again. Sure I will have ONE glass but I felt so ill on Friday that its just not worth it! Even today I still feel a little woozy, so I figure that my poor body really got a shock. I hadnt had alcohol in afew months so to have such a huge dose on one go was a huge mistake.
Ah well....lesson learned,at the age of 47!!
I plan to have a nice quiet weekend...take the dogs for a walk and afew early nights!
Thanks everyone for being so understanding and supportive and not judging me

I think we all should 'let our hair down' and enjoy something that is bad for us time to time! Just aslong as we do it once and awhile.

btw - i plan to go out boozing tomorrow myself, i figure let me celebrate my newly found friend.

Don't be ashamed.. That metformin will do it to you. Sometimes I think my morning numbers are much better if I have a some wine at night.
