I came home from the doctor's office...

...with a foot injury!

Geeze Louise! I arrived early for my appointment and did not care for the idea of sitting in the waiting room with all chairs aimed at TV tuned to a news station. It has been raining and raining and difficult to get my walks in between rains. The office is in a large medical center adjoined to a hospital and two other buildings. So, I decided to walk the hallways until time for the appointment. Got in a thirty minute walk.

My dress shoes were a bit uncomfortable, which I didn't previously know because normally I don't walk that much in them. Doctor even inspected my feet as part of the appointment, but evidently a flap of raw skin had not lifted by that point, so neither he nor I saw any damage then. But leaving his office, walking back down the hall to the parking garage, I could tell I'd incurred a boo-boo.

Darn it! I try to be careful about my feet. I converted from a lifetime of being barefoot at every opportunity. But not until I got diabetes did I start doing stupid things to my feet. Oh, I haven't told you about the time I sliced the top of my foot with a dirty shovel, right through a leather shoe? How about the grease burn in a bout the same spot as today's friction wound? The foot inversion injury that had me on crutches for 6 weeks? The bee stings? The glass splinter I could not get out myself?

Oh well, it is all the more motivation to keep the BGs down, yes?

Yes!! I know what you mean about not knowing that dress shoes rub your feet until you have to walk in them! I wear comfortable shoes all day as I am teacher and need to run around after kids all day but I love shoes (as some of you already know) and sometimes I put on a pair of more glamorous shoes, just for a change. I always get home with sore feet and swear never to wear them again! Elegant shoes are wonderful so long as you can sit down in them for long periods of time!
Hope your poor boo boo gets better soon! Hugs

Hi,
It is so easy to do, I have found sometimes my old faithful shoes decide they don't love me anymore and rub .Out they go to the garbage. I to love shoes and always look at what people wear on their feet. These days my shoes are very flat lots of room and usually cost a packet!!
I used to own so many shoes but now just look. I love my feet and legs to much to give them up for the sake of fashion

What a bummer! Hope it heals quickly, **** dress shoes. I have reached a point that I don't "get dressed up" to go see my doctor and generally avoid dress shoes as much as possible. I actually got a nice pair of ASIC sneakers, which are all leather and black so don't immediately jump out as being sneakers, supposedly they were designed with Diabetics in mind. They sure are comfortable.

OUCH! Nothing much worse than a raw place on a tender foot! I feel your pain with all the foot injuries!!! I went back to my orthopedic yesterday ... 3 weeks post-injury of spraining BOTH of my ankles. He said 4 more weeks in my boot on right foot and lace-up thing on left foot. Plus I start physical therapy tomorrow. I had already rolled the right foot over and fractured it about 8 years ago which ended up in surgery and nearly a year of limping around. What is it with our feet? *sigh*

I hope your boo boo will heal quickly! I just wish I COULD wear heels still. I learned that I don't dare now with my weak ankles. I'd just be asking for life on crutches! LOL!

It's a really small wound, only about 4 mm, and the sort of thing that only a diabetic would be concerned about. The shoes were dress flats. Even before diabetes, I've never worn heels. Even while keeping my A1c under 6 I have been slow to heal below the knees. So I'll just be extra careful.
