Switch to Humalog 75/25?

Hi!

I started Humalog 50/50 last week. My after dinner numbers are fantastic! 90-115! That's down from 225+. My morning numbers are better, 125-135 instead of 171.

Could switching to Humalog 75/25 keep my after dinner numbers down and maybe bring my morning numbers down a little more? Or should I be happy where they are?

Thanks for your help.

Jazzbo

Sorry I don't know the answer to your question. Hopefully some of our members on insulin can shed some more light on things for you.

If it brings the numbers down and your doc oks it, go for it but only with the docs ok. There may be a reason he has you on 50/50 like what other meds are you taking?

Thanks Janlaton! And Princess Linda!
I'm taking 1000 mg of metformin in the morning. My numbers throughout the day are now very good. I guess because I'm feeling so much better after starting insulin, I was just wondering if I should keep tweaking this. It has been a huge improvement after two years of messing around with oral drugs that were not achieving the best results.
Best wishes for your good health.

I think you might try tweaking your 50/50 a bit more before abandoning it for something that might drive you into a low situation. You may just need a small amount more of the 50/50 or a small diet change. If you are still unhappy, he may just let you try the 75/25, but you are so close right now it may be too much of a change.
