Are you sure you are not carrying some type of infection? Even a slight infection can make it hard to get bg down. You did not say are you exercising? Even using resistance bands a few minitues at a time at your desk several xs a day is good.

Try not eating after 7pm. When my doc suggested this I thought she was crazy but it has brought my #s down.

By all means get checked out quickly!

When my BS is higher than I am comfortable with but I've already exercized (or am too lazy too right that minute) I soak in a HOT bath for 30 minutes to an hour. It is usually good for dropping my BS at least 40 points. Sometimes more. I know that won't get you down to "normal" but might get you low enough that you can exercise without worry.

You may just be taking too much insulin at night. I know it's weird but see this blog where she explains it.

age is no longer used in the determining type. Whatever you do dont exercise second Test a second time use a different test and make sure your hands are clean. Is Synthroid a steroid if it is that maybe whats making your bg go so high.

Why is exercising bad when bs is over 300?

I've read this before. Why? If you did exercise, would your bs drop? Or in some cases, the level gets higer due to exercise?
Why? I'm confused???

You could be having absorption problems. Try splitting that 58 units of insulin into 2 or even 3 shots.

I have heard recently on this site that exercising with too high a sugar can cause damage. I understand that sugar in the blood is like little glass crystals. I had forgotten this fact when I advised exercise in my first post on this thread. Thankfully Linda picked up on that and corrected me

If the BS is high it is probable that there is too little circulating insulin. The exercising muscles need glucose but will not be able to access the glucose in the blood signalling the liver to release even more glucose from glycogen. The BS will therefore rise higher. Moreover with the lack of insulin there will be a breakdown of fat to fatty acids transforming them into ketones. There is therefore a risk of ketoacidosis.
Normal advice is to check for ketones before exercising if BS is above 250 and not to exercise at all above 300.

This happened to me before diagnosis. I 'knew' (self diagnosed) that I had diabetes. I thought it must be type 2 and that exercise was good for me. I had already lost weight ( now I realise that ketones were present.) I went for a short mountain bike ride, Couldn't go on, breathing became rapid, I felt dreadful. At the time my husband thought I was having a heart attack.Next day I was in hospital ( I was in my 50s so age is definitely not relevant)

I agree the op should call the doctor for advice. With a fasting BS that high I would check for ketones anyway.
You can get urine strips at the chemist.

Ouch 360.. call the Dr. He's probably going to give you some long acting insulin. Injections aren't so bad, it hurts less then testing my glucose level! Drink 8 glasses of water a day. Walk it off too! 360 isn't anything to mess with.
