| | | Hi Teresa, welcome. Are you T1 or T2? What meds are you taking?
As for quick weight loss, we put it on gradually, and it unfortunately comes off the same way. I've read that the slower you take it off, the more likely it is to stay off.
I'd encourage you to eat healthy and to get regular exercise, gradually increasing it and you should see results. Drinking plent of water will help you feel full longer. I've found that when I eat fewer carbs, I have fewer cravings and feel full longer.
Main thing, DON'T GIVE UP! If you burn more calories than you consume, you will lose weight.
I'm a big girl, I know how discouraging it can be to have a lot of weight to lose and it would be nice if there were a quick fix. However, just losing 10% of your body weight makes a big difference healthwise.

| | | Hi, Welcome to DF! Getting your blood sugar under control quickly is a great idea. Losing weight is probably a great idea too, but you probably want to do it right, and do it permanently rather than quickly.
You'll get great advice here. Why not tell us more about yourself?

Im on the slim fast plan with a salad being my evening meal due to the carbs and sugar in the slim fast. So far so good hasnt raised blood sugar levels and im not hungry due to lots of water 64oz x 2 daily(i drink 4 -320oz bottles daily)! Thank God! Im on Insulin R before meals and Lantus at bed time. Im determined to get better over the next 3 months before my next HBA1C in Sept.

| | | Teresa, sounds like you're doing well! You should be noticing weight loss results soon. Good for you for sticking with you exercise program. Keep up the good work. Just make sure you're getting enough calories so your body doesn't go into "starvation mode" or your weight loss will slow.

I see you're on insulin, so I'm going to assume you're testing. If not, you really should be. Test, test, test. You'll learn what works for you and what you should avoid.
Have you had an HbA1c done?

| | Tereasa,
First off, welcome to the forums. Those slim fast thing contains a lot of surgar/carbs as you said. Do you have them as a replacement for breakfast/lunch or use them during your snack time? I'm curious because my dietician didn’t like the idea of dinking those high carb/high protein things. She said they’d raise the BS levels. She rather gave me a carb counting plan that would keep me satisfied and not hungry (most of the time)
How are you BS numbers? | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
