Question Glucosamine Chondroitin and BG

Hi All, I feel bad that I missed the picture day for Dave...I was not feeling well. I will look forward to seeing them.

Do any of you use Glucosamine Chondroitin or any other suppliments for your joints? Are there any problems taking it and having higher bg numbers?

Thanks much, Cindy

I couldn't play ' take a pic ' either as my cam is playing up.

I take Glucosamine 1200mg Chondroitin 360mg . It's said to have 4.4g carbs . I mix it with 1 cup skim milk approx 12g carbs & have as a smoothie for lunch .
It's not made any significant impact on my bg's as yet

Lucinda, my joints are much better then before but I'm not sure if its the supplements or the weight loss & exercise thats made the difference.
I'm really very excited in that I feel so well these days compared to the years of pain & being unwell when my bg's was uncontrolled.

hi cindy, i'm taking glucosamine with chondroitin and apple cider vinegar.
i havent noticed any difference in my Bg's from taking them. i take 1000mg 3 times a day!
i seem to get repetitive strain injuries more when i dont take them. i heal very quickly from joint injuries whilst i am taking them.
team them up with fish oils and i could probably run a marathon!

Cindy, it's all a trade off

the glucosamine really does make a difference to the joints !

if your bg increase then look at the diet/exercise/med treatment triad for diabetes, and adjust which one you feel you want to adjust in order to continue the glucosamine

good luck

Thank you for your replies!

Thank you all so much for sharing your knowledge. I was taking the Glucosamine w/ Chondroitin, but stopped when I read that it was not good for BG. This was withing the first few months of my diagnosis. I am still just about as confused as I was then. Their are so many conflicting ideas out there.

Thanks again, Cindy
