To make broccoli (or most any vegetable) more enjoyable, cook the broccoli in a pot of water or steam it, but cook it long enough until it's completely soft. You don't want it to be crunchy in any way. Now, while it's still in the pot, add some corn oil (you can use canola oil, but it doesn't taste quite as good). Add just enough oil to lightly coat the broccoli....you don't want the broccoli floating in it. Now add some garlic salt. The amount depends on your individual taste. Now cover the pot and shake it up. Pour the contents into a bowl and serve. You might want to leave the garlic salt on the table so you can sprinkle a little on the broccoli after you put it on your plate.
I make brussel sprouts this way also and everyone I've made them for loved them...even those who hated brussel sprouts.

| | | Well John, the cold beer thing might work if my DH liked beer. He doesn't, however. Canfield's Diet Fudge Soda, now. That's a whole different story. How he swigs that sludge I'll never know, but he can. LOLOLOL.
Definitely, getting all the junk out of the house is a great idea. That's the FIRST thing I did when DX. I cleaned house. Everything remotely junk-like went into the trash.
Now Hammer, I'm not one of "those women" who take every ache and pain to the doctor. I pop a couple of Ibuprofen and keep going. I only go to the doctor when I have no other choice. The last time I went to the doctor for other than a scheduled, regular appointment, I had such an awful case of bronchitis I couldn't breathe when I lay down. My doc said I was about 2 days from pneumonia. I suffered from lingering effects from that stuff for nearly a year. Oh, and when my right arm went completely numb from using a mouse so much at work. Inflamed trapezius muscle. So don't lump us all into the same wussy pile. There's a term for women like me. We're called "Steel Magnolias" for a reason. Just ask my DH. And we can host a beautiful bridal shower and turn around and kick macho butt any day of the week! LOLOLOL.

| | | Yepper, 2000 mg of Met. Maximum dosage 'cause I am VERY insulin resistant. I'm hoping to reduce that dosage in the next 12-18 months, as I lose more weight.
DH does indeed mean "Dear Husband," in my case, anyway. I've been married to the one and only wonderful man in my life for nearly 12 years and I'm not ashamed to say I love him more every day! He is a fantastic husband and a fine, decent human being. I love him with all my heart. No, he's not perfect, but he manages to live with me so the least I can do is overlook his quirks! LOL.

| | Sorry Scrabblechick, I didn't mean you specifically, I meant women in general. There are always exceptions of course, but go into any doctor's office and see who's in the waiting room. It's usually 95% women, and if there are any men there, it's because they brought their wives. If I didn't have to get my prescriptions renewed, I'd only be there once a year. I try calling him on the phone to see if I can get renewals that way and sometimes he'll give them to me, otherwise I have to come in for an office visit to get them.
Anyway, I didn't mean to offend you SC. If I did, I apologize.
