Jerryn,

Wow...three at night!! Is that because of higher morning numbers. If my numbers don't get better in morning, I may ask my doc if I can take an additional met at night.

My doc said he wants me to have 2 oz of wine a day...it is hard to stop at 2 oz! just kidding..well, half-kidding...every once in a while, I do miss having a couple drinks. I never really did like beer but wine-coolers! Yum...and rum and cokes...malibu...better stop before I get tempted...again, jk,jk...so metformin dump eh??? hmm..I'd heard of metfartin but now, I've heard everything! Lol..have a good night.

I've only been taking it a month and the side effects have barely diminished ... but I've gotten/read some advice in other threads that the extended release version can reduce those effects so I plan on asking if I can switch at my one month visit this Thursday.

I've been taking Metformin for three years now and haven't had any problems. I take 850 mg with breakfast and 1700 mg with dinner.

I have been on metformin for over two years now. I started at 500mg once daily and now take it twice daily. I have never experienced any of the side effects that others talk about. The only thing that I have noticed, and don't know if it's from metformin or just that my diet has been cleaned up, but if i eat buttery or heavy fried foods (or fast food) I get diahrrea the next day. Other than that, it's smooth sailing. I have my labs done and we keep a good eye on my liver and such. No problems there either. I have not experienced the weight loss that others talk about though. Wish I had!!!

1. How long have you been on Metformin?

I've been on metformin for 1.5 years now
2. If over a year, have you experienced any diabetic complications? ie kidney, liver, heart or any other organ

none

3. Other then side effects of having to use bathroom, and weight loss, are there any other side effects you've experienced?
I haven't experianced any side effects. Even the ones you mentioned above

4. I would also love to hear from those who have been on it over two years and how they are doing. Has it lost its effect? Are you having to diet and exercise more to get the same results.
